Preity decidedly went back to her style superior days in an understated black wrap dress with minimal make- up and accessories at the Bharat Dorris Styling and Make- up awards in Mumbai.
It wasn’t a long time ago that Preity, following a rather public break- up, had officially lost the plot in the wardrobe department. She got a bizarre haircut, started wearing clothes too unbecoming of her age and style and made us cringe with her postbreak up makeover.
She sadly fell into the bracket of women who after becoming suddenly single at 35 try too hard to appear un- affected. So, out came the miniskirts, summer programmes at NYU and new found love from social networking sites. She refused to let ex- boyfriend and co- partner in her IPL venture — industrialist Ness Wadia — take her quintessential “ bubbly” spirit away from her.
Alas, she tried too hard to appear happy and get along with life. The biggest victim of this ‘ I- will- survive’ phase was ironically the one thing that always worked in her favour — her impeccable style. It got unnecessarily risqué and experimental teenage- like. That was 2009.
After a series of weird Twitter updates, wardrobe disasters and publicity stunts, Preity Zinta is back to being her usual self. She has calmed down and gone back to being the stunner we know. Back in Mumbai after a long stay in the US, she first came on the social scene at the recently held Lakme Fashion Week. Predictably, the one platform where you’re bound to get noticed, Preity announced her return on the fashion charts with a hot pink ruffled number. Her friend, Manish Malhotra and her once arch rival, Rani Mukerji were there to cheer her.
This time around, she got photographed with none other than Big B. It’s great to see that she hasn’t only got her style sense back but also worked on her PR skills. Now, only time will tell if it all translates into film offers.
